In Loving Memory of Edward Moon: 1936-2021

 Edward “Ed” Franklin Moon, 84, went home to be with his savior on Friday, Aug. 20, 2021. 

Ed was born in Chehalis Washington, on Dec. 19, 1936, to parents Alvin and Bertha Moon. He was a graduate of Chehalis High school. Ed had a long career with the Washington state Department of Natural Resources. He served as a supervisor at the ranger station in Ahtanum, Washington, where he and his first wife Gloria lived with their young family. Ed led his “Moon’s Marauders” summer fire crews in fighting wildfires in the Ahtanum and Yakima areas. He retired from service with the DNR as a supervisor at the Webster Tree Nursery in Olympia, Washington. After retirement from the DNR, Ed went on to get his real estate license and went to work with his second wife Laura in their business, Moon and Moon Realty in Centralia, Washington. 

Ed loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed fishing with his son Larry. He spent many happy hours cutting firewood for the home and garden in his “Garden of Weedin.” Ed was an active member of Centralia First Christian Church, serving as deacon, elder and adult Sunday school teacher over the years. 

Ed is survived by his wife of 44 years, Laura J. Moon; brother, Delbert Moon; sons, Larry and Gary Moon; daughters, Dixie (Moon) Hurley and Diane Moon; stepdaughters Judy (Ritchey) Guenther, Linda (Ritchey) Black and Christine Ritchey; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Bertha Moon, his brothers, Kenneth, Jerry and Melton Moon, sister, Gail Stevens, and stepdaughter, Cynthia Ritchey. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at Centralia First Christian Church, 1215 W. Main St., Centralia.
