In Loving Memory of Henry J. Muller: 1935-2023

Posted

Henry Joseph Muller, 87, went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on March 29, 2023, in Olympia, Washington.

Hank was born in Cicero, Illinois, to Elmer and Magdaline Muller on June 9, 1935. He grew up in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, enjoying all things outdoors, including hunting, fishing and swimming. He graduated from IHM Academy in 1954, then served in the U.S. Army until 1958. He met the love of his life, Carol Davis, at a picnic just a month after getting out of the service. The couple was married on June 11, 1959, and they had four children.

Hank went back to college in 1967, a big sacrifice with a family to support, yet he earned an accounting degree from Eastern Washington State College, as it was known then, in just three years. Hank went to work for the U.S. Treasury and soon entered the newly formed Computer Audit Service, leading him into the world of computer programming. He loved his work but also loved his family life where camping, travel, kids’ sports and education were important activities.

Hank and Carol retired in 1995 and pursued their longtime dream of seeing the country as full-time RVers. They were on the road for 10 years, seeing and doing all they wanted. By 2005, though, it was time to “get off the road” and build a house, which they did in Chehalis, Washington. There they enjoyed family visits, friends and community.

Hank is survived by his soul mate of 63 years, Carol; four children, Joe (Laurie), Mike (Jodi), Carolann (Scott) and Lisa (Jon); his nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his sister Eleanor in Cincinnati.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chehalis. There will be a reception following in the church hall.
