James Dean Scott passed away peacefully at home in Oakville, Wash., after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by his kids and dogs.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Jamie (Allen) Morris of Yelm, Wash.; son, Troy (Heather) Scott of Oak Harbor, Wash.; daughter, Traci D. Scott of Oakville, Wash.; his grandson, Connor (Mary) Scott of Honolulu, Hawaii; granddaughter, Catherine Scott of Oak Harbor, Wash.; grandson, Cameron Scott of Coupeville, Wash.; nephews, Jared (Bronte) Hardison and their children, Evie, Reggie and Percie; and KC (Jessica) Childberg and their daughter, Camryn; stepson, Robert Whitworth (Dodie) of Olalla, Wash.; and his beloved service dog, MyKia.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Cheryl; his daughter, Tricia Scott Hollingsworth; sister, Judy Scott; and his parents, Dean Scott and Phylis McCarthey.
Jim was born in Riverside, Calif., and later moved and settled in Centralia, Wash. He had an incredible work ethic that led to a successful trucking company and later driving truck for the pipeline, retiring from the Teamsters. He made many lifetime friendships with those he met through work and his love for all things outdoors.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman, pursuing his passion for hunting, fishing and camping. He was a devoted dog lover who found immense joy in the company of his beloved Rottweilers. Jim’s greatest joy was being “Poppy” to his three grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 5, in Toledo, Wash.
