John C. Good Jr. passed away March 18, 2023, at the age of 90. He was born July 6, 1932, in Chehalis, Washington, to John and Minnie Good. John, better known as Johnny, grew up on a farm in Boistfort Valley. He was the youngest of six children: sisters Sylvia Anderson, Frances Jacox, Ruth Manning, Wilma Muller, and brother Alfred (Sonny) Good.  John graduated from Boistfort High School in 1948 where he excelled in basketball and baseball. After graduating, John married Laura Stanfield and had three children. He took a job in the woods for Weyerhaeuser, where he was employed for 15 years. He later went to work as a Log Stacker for Wasser & Winters in their Tacoma and Longview log yards. He then traveled for work in Alaska. There, he met and married Elain, and they were married 15 years. John then opened and operated his own log yard until retirement. He didn’t stay retired long, as he went back to work running a log shovel.  John retired again and met Leona Sullivan. They lived together for the next 26 years. John and Leona shared a love of fishing and clam digging. They often went fishing in Alaska at Cooks Inlet, where they made many friends and memories. John lived to fish and hunt. As a boy, he could be found following his dad and brother in hopes of tagging along a hunting or fishing trip. Upon coming out of retirement again, he took a job at his son Alan and grandson Jason’s rock pit running an excavator. When fishing season would come around, John would take off to fish in Grays River, which was one of his favorite fishing spots. He also fished salmon with friends on the Columbia River. You could find John fishing in one of his boats with one or two poles out, no matter the weather. He never missed an opportunity to fish! When he wasn’t fishing, you could find him picking blackberries for his favorite pie, digging for clams or gathering oysters in the bay. He was also an avid elk and deer hunter. John was best known for his hunting and fishing.  John is preceded in death by his companion, Leona Sullivan, and his daughter, Deborah Muller. He is survived by his son, Alan (Pam) Good, from Toledo; daughter, Wanda Johnson, from Castle Rock; along with 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all.  Per John’s request, there will be no memorial service.
