In Loving Memory of Linda Young: 1941-2023

Posted

Born Feb. 8, 1941, in the Bronx of New York City to Ed and Phyllis Packard, Linda G. Young passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Pine Ridge Alzheimer’s Special Care Center.

A high school graduate, Linda married Richard Reiter on Dec. 8, 1957, spending most of her time in Spokane, Washington, raising her three children. She moved to Seattle in 1973 and married her second husband, Merlin Young, Dec. 22, 1984.

For the most part, Linda was a stay-at-home mom, but she worked a variety of jobs, mostly in retail. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, a caring and kind person, giving selflessly to anyone in need. She loved long walks, reading and listening to music. With a knack for interior design, Linda kept a super clean house with a yard full of beautiful flowers. She loved all kinds of animals, however, her favorite were the dogs!

Linda also had a very strong faith and was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chehalis, Washington.

Linda is survived by two sons, Scott Reiter and Richard Reiter; one stepson, Alan Young; son-in-law, Bill Craver; one daughter, Christy Craver; daughter-in-law, Kinda Reiter; three stepdaughters, Margo O’Connor, Elaina Price and Debra Vollmer; two brothers, Tom and Steve Hughes; four grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; and 21 step-great-grandchildren. Linda was preceded in death by her stepfather, Watts Hughes, mother, Phyllis Hughes, and stepson, Wade Young.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 6, and includes a light reception at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home in Spokane Valley, Washington. The service will be followed by a 2:30 p.m. committal at 1011 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
