In Loving Memory of Nelson Lanchester Jr.: 1944 - 2022

Nelson H. Lanchester, Jr. was born July 2, 1944, in Somerville, Massachusetts. He passed away in Glenoma, Washington, on Dec. 16, 2022. 

He was preceded in death by his mother Gertrude, father Nelson Sr. and brother Donald. 

He is survived by his wife Carol Ann; children Carol Beth Cobun, Bradley N. Lanchester and Michael W. Lanchester; stepchildren Donald Kent, Erika McCurley and Carol Vincent; and the family cats, Tiger and Willow. He had numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

Nelson worked in civil service for 33 years, most of that time at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. 

He volunteered at various volunteer fire departments for over 50 years, including the last four years with the Glenoma Fire Department. He also volunteered for 10 years with the City of Bremerton Police Department and spent 15 years with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Department. 

Since the age of 14, Nelson had been active in model railroading and live steamers railroading. 

He was a past master counselor in DeMolay, Boston Chapter No. 1, W. Somerville, Massachusetts, and a life member. 

A remembrance gathering will be held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 28, 2023, at the Glenoma Fire Department training center, 8200 U.S. Highway 12. A snacks potluck will follow.
