In Loving Memory of Philip King: 1932-2023

Philip Orison King, age 90, of Hoodsport, passed away June 8, 2023. He was born Dec. 22, 1932, in Centerville, Washington to Philip William and Nellie Rhoads King. Following the death of his parents, he was reared by his aunt and uncle Charles and Esther King. 

He graduated from Rochester High School and served three years in theU.S. Army in Germany. Philip graduated from Northrop Aeronautical Institute and was an aircraft mechanic. He was known as a master mechanic by all that knew him. He retired from the city of Tacoma as an operator mechanic. 

He is survived by Jacqualyn, his wife of 66 years; three children, Steven King (Maru), Linda Hemry (David) and Trudy Rader (John); eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Dick Atkins; four sibling cousins, Dale King, Carol Schaper, Chester King and Curt King; his nieces and nephews. 

He was a kind and gentleman who was loved by all. He enjoyed camping with his family and traveling to national parks and places of interest. He enjoyed swimming with his children, playing board games and baseball with them. He was a wonderful father and husband. 

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Newell-Hoerling’s Mortuary with burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Centralia, Washington.
