In Loving Memory of Roger Iverson: 1946-2023

Posted

Roger Dellis Iverson passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Providence Hospital in Centralia, Washington, at the age of 76.

Roger was born in Slayton, Minnesota on Nov. 2, 1946, to Marcella and Fred Iverson, brother to two sisters, Jeannie (Iverson) Qualley and Judy Iverson. Roger was a U.S. Army veteran and stationed in Korea during the time of the Vietnam War. Following his U.S. Army service, Roger returned to the United States and attended Western Michigan University, where he graduated within the top 10 of his class.

Roger then headed west, living in Utah before setting out on an adventure to the Pacific Northwest where he discovered Onalaska, Washington. Here, he met his wife Nancy Carol (Kinsman) Iverson in 1977. Roger and Nancy married in 1978 and proudly raised seven children in Onalaska where they ran a successful business, Iverson Building, and later a coffee and flower shop, Buzz and Blooms.

Family was Roger’s reason, his greatest sense of pride and joy, where his success and passion for life can be most vividly seen. The perennial teacher and coach, he never ceased lessons to be learned and taught, topics to be discussed, card games to play, stories to be told, hobbies to be explored and knowledge to gain. His near ever-presence around the kitchen table is one of the beloved things his family will miss the most. Around this family table is where his wise counsel, sense of humor and love of a good competitive family game was most on display.

Roger is survived by his wife, Nancy (Kinsman) Iverson, of Onalaska; sister,Judy Iverson, of Marina, California; and seven children,Todd (Gina) Working, ofOnalaska, Mary Beth Working Beck, of Toledo, Washington, Ross Working, of Chehalis, Washington, Kirsten (Jerad)Buswell, of Toledo, Washington,Lucas (Megan) Iverson, of Onalaska, Washington, Chester (Annika) Iverson, of Onalaska, Washington, and Corrine/Corrie (Jeramie) Hadaller, of Colstrip, Montana.

He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. This village will sorely miss his steadfast support, guidance and wisdom.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Marcella Iverson and his sister, Jeannie Qualley. He remained at his family home, surrounded by joy, love and bustling life until just before his passing.

A celebration of life is being planned for June of 2023.
