In Loving Memory of Ronald Paul Six

Posted

As many already know, Ronald Paul Six, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2020. This was tragic and a terrible surprise, due to a massive heart attack, just as the world was screeching to a halt.

He was known for being a hard-working, hilarious and loving man. My brothers and I had the best training for work ethic, promptness, master level storytelling skills, small engine repair, and cooking over high heat at all times. He was known for being a volunteer for just about anything: Lions Club, Boy Scouts of America, school football team, league baseball teams, helping any neighbor at the drop of a hat, and so much more.

Dad graduated from Woodland High School in Washington in 1969, where he grew up in prime Bigfoot country on the south side of Mount St. Helens. Dad was then drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and became part of the mechanized division with the 82nd Airborne. He spoke of jumping with the Golden Knights for festivals or training events while stationed in Germany. Dad served until 1978 and moved the family back to the states, seeking a civilian job. He worked for 35 years at WIDCO Coal Mining Plant until they were shut down, which was located north of Rochester, Washington. There he worked on heavy mining equipment and settling pond pumps. Oh, the stories and fossils that came out of that place. Dad finished up his working career with a couple of years at Ape Pile Driving Hydraulics in Tacoma and a couple at Lucks Food Decorating in Tacoma. Anyone that knew my father knew he was the hardest working individual they'd ever meet.

After retirement, dad found his paradise in the mountains of Republic, Washington, working on his dream homestead.

Dad may be gone, but we will continue to tell his stories. His laugh was infectious and he couldn't tell a story without a big one after wiping the sweat from his brow, smiling from ear to ear.

You may have left us here on Earth, but you're forever in our hearts and memories. You'll be deeply missed and loved forever.

There will be a service held from 1 to 3 p.m. on May 27, 2023, at McFiler's Chehalis Theater, 558 N. Market Blvd. Chehalis, Washington, 98532. Refreshments will be provided and a cash bar will be available.
