In loving memory of Thomas Muller: 1952-2023

Thomas John Muller, 71, of Pe Ell, Washington, passed peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023, surrounded by his family. 

Thomas (Tom) was born on Jan. 8, 1952, in Centralia, Washington, to Leo and Arlene Muller. He graduated from Pe Ell High School in 1970 and Eastern Washington University in 1974 with a business degree. He played on the EWU football team as a center. 

Tom began working for his father, Leo Muller, in building and construction at the age of 14. After college, he worked at a bank in Longview, Washington. He then eventually joined his brother, Tony, working in construction again with Muller Brothers Construction. Tom continued working in construction until his disability from multiple sclerosis prevented him from working any further. He enjoyed building and making house plans and had a special talent for woodworking and handcrafting furniture. 

Tom was an active member of the Pe Ell community and devout supporter of the Pe Ell School and athletics. He was a member of the Pe Ell Fire Department for many years, was one of the original founders of the Pe Ell Booster Club, spent many years on the Pe Ell School Board, was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Pe Ell and was lifetime member of the Lewis- Pacific Swiss Society in Frances, Washington. He volunteered for many of his children’s youth activities, including coaching. Tom also had many special memories hunting with his family and friends. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Donna (Drevniak) Muller; children, Tammy Muller-Markee, Stasha (Toneil) Magruder and Tommy (Shannon) Muller; nine grandchildren, Morgan and Dalton Markee, Ruby, Brody, Hadley and Andey Magruder, Braden and Brody Sayers, and TJ Muller. He is also survived by his siblings, Nancy, Tony, John, Marilyn, Cheryl and Suzanne. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Arlene Muller, and stepmother, Wilma Muller, and many special aunts, uncles and cousins. 

A service for Tom will be held at 11 a.m Sept. 22, 2023, at LPSS Swiss Hall in Frances, followed by a luncheon and celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pe Ell Fire Department or Pe Ell Booster Club.
