In Loving Memory of Timothy Paul Sexsmith: 1958-2023

Posted

Timothy (Tim) Paul Sexsmith, 64, passed away March 27, 2023, surrounded by family and friends after a short illness.

Tim, one of eight children, was born May 2, 1958, in Spokane, Washington, to Barbara Ann (Bordwell) Sexsmith and Henry George Sexsmith. The family moved to Centralia in 1962 where he attended St. Mary’s Catholic grade school. He played football with his twin brother, Tom, for the Knappa High School Loggers in Astoria, Oregon, where he made lifelong friends.

Tim started in the laborer’s union at 18, working all over Washington and making many friends. He was proud to work as a pipeline inspector traveling and working in many states and recruited others. Vacations were attached to those locations, including New York City and Harley rides in North Dakota.

He enjoyed camping, sleeping under the stars, coaching his sons’ baseball games, hunting with friends and family, clam digging, watching his grandson race, and family reunions. His hobby was buying and selling cars. Tim made friends everywhere and visited his friends often, usually unannounced and staying to shoot the breeze. No one will ever forget his huge, strong, long hugs and his determined personality. Tim was there for so many in their time of need and there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix, build or just give advice.

Tim’s love of Harleys led him to form the Lewis County ABATE group as the first coordinator organizing fundraisers and poker runs, traveling to Sturgis and enjoying the thrill of the ride.

Tim is survived by his sons Doyle and Dylan (Brittany); sister Mary Ann; brothers Tom (Sigi), Bill, Randy (Doreen) and John; daughter-in-law Brandi; granddaughters Cali and Kennedy; grandson Chance; and his “adopted son” Little Rob’ as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his beloved animals, Sage and Puppy.

He was preceded in death by his brother Ron (1988), his father (2009), his mother (2013), his sister Julia “Judy” (2016) and his son Robbie (2018).

Many thanks go out to his friends Randy Courtier, Janice Ewing, sister Mary Ann and son Dylan for making his last days comfortable.

An ABATE memorial last ride will be held for Tim on Saturday, June 3rd, leaving Main Street Grill (Papa Ray’s) at 10 a.m. and end at his celebration of life from 2 to 5 p.m. at 20410 Grand Mound Way SW, Centralia. This will be an outside gathering. Dress for the weather.
