In Loving Memory of Wayne L. Harper: 1941-2023

Posted

Wayne Laurence Harper of Randle, Washington, passed away on May 16, 2023, after a fierce battle with cancer.

Wayne was born in Kosmos, Washington, to Viola Clarken Harper and Laurence Dale Harper. After graduating from White Pass High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Wayne’s military service allowed him to experience the world from Fairbanks, Alaska to Southeast Asia. Wayne was a talented jet mechanic with a passion for the F-105 fighter jet. After completing nine years of service, Wayne returned to the Big Bottom Valley, where he married Diane Moore. The couple had three daughters, Kim, Erin and Jodie, and they made their home on a farm in Mossyrock, Washington. Wayne enjoyed farming, working, spending time with family and friends, and was a gifted musician.

Wayne was a talented truck driver who worked in the Northwest area for many years prior to traveling and working in southeast Alaska. He always enjoyed fishing and the outdoors and wilderness in Alaska provided him those wonderful opportunities, which he shared with family and friends.

Wayne retired from logging in his 70s and was managing his own truck business at the time. After retirement, Wayne stayed busy raising an amazing garden and a few steers at his home in Randle. He enjoyed spending time with his family, as they were the most important to him.

Wayne is survived by his three daughters: Kim Voile (Matt) of New Plymouth, Idaho; Erin Stevens of East Lyme, Connecticut; and Jodie Moxley (Travis) of Kennewick, Washington. He is survived by three sisters, Kay Armstrong, Gail Koher and Carol Geidel. Wayne is also survived by his five grandchildren: Kayla Buhler (Voile), Aidrie Voile, Baylie Voile, Tori Moxley and Peyton Moxley.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Laurence D. Harper; mother, Viola Bowen; stepfather Donald Bowen and his youngest sister Karen Lampman.

Wayne has requested there be no services.
