A Centralia woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly used a shotgun to intimidate a group of kids playing soccer near her home.

According to prosecutors, Stacey R. Radcliff, 54, has a well-documented history of making drunken threats to children in her neighborhood.

Radcliff was charged on Wednesday with felony counts of second-degree assault, unlawful possession of a short-barreled shotgun and harassment. She faces a gross misdemeanor count of third-degree malicious mischief.

A judge set bail at $100,000 cash or bond during a preliminary appearance on Wednesday.

As part of her release conditions, Radcliff is prohibited from traveling on Ives Road, and must use an alternate route to access her home. She was also ordered to get a court-approved alcohol monitoring device within 24 hours of her release from jail.

Chief Criminal Prosecutor William Halstead told the court that Radcliff’s alleged behavior has been going on “a long time,” and said drinking was the likely root of the issue.

Radcliff has no criminal history, Halstead said.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Tuesday responded to a complaint of a woman yelling near an apartment building on Ives Road.

The woman reportedly had a gun.

Centralia police responded to the scene to assist the deputies.

According to the affidavit, deputies were aware of the woman from prior incidents, in which she allegedly became intoxicated and yelled at children playing soccer near her home.

Halstead said Radcliff lives in a trailer by a large, open stretch of grass where the kids play. Defense attorney Rachael Tiller said Radcliff lives in the backyard of her family’s property.

According to the affidavit, deputies spoke to kids at the scene, who said they’d been playing soccer when Radcliff exited her home with a gun.

The gun, the kids said, was “bigger than a handgun but shorter than a rifle.”

Radcliff allegedly yelled “profanities” at the group of kids and threatened to kill them.

The children said they ran from the area out of fear. Other witnesses confirmed their reports.

According to the affidavit, Radcliff also allegedly threw a large, “painted pink” rock at both a car window and a soccer goal. Though she didn’t break the window, Radcliff allegedly broke the goal, worth about $200.

Deputies called Radcliff out of her home. She allegedly smelled of “intoxicants.”

Upon execution of a search warrant, deputies found a shotgun and shells inside the trailer. The shotgun’s barrel measured 12 inches.

In their daily press log, Centralia police said Radcliff “surrendered without further incident.”

Radcliff pleaded not guilty during an arraignment on Thursday.

A trial is tentatively set for September.
