For the second time in this year’s district tournament, the Onalaska girls basketball team made history.
Just one week after a record-setting defensive battle, the Loggers put together an all-around performance for the ages on Saturday, defeating North Beach 90-12 to stay alive in the 2B District 4 Tournament.
It ties the record for the largest margin of victory in a 2B District 4 Tournament game, tying Wahkiakum’s 91-13 whooping of Morton in 1982.
Individually, Emalie Jacoby played one of the best games in Onalaska history, setting a single-game scoring record with 40 points while shooting 17 for 23 from the field. She didn’t even need to play in the fourth to set the new mark.
“It’s a well-deserved accomplishment for an extremely hard-working kid,” Onalaska coach Alana Olson said.
The score throughout the game became more and more unbelievable. After the first, the Loggers led 29-4. After a 25-0 second, it was 54-4 at halftime. After three, it was 78-6.
“Today was a great team win,” Olson said. “We had solid minutes from our bench, and it was a great confidence builder for our offense.”
Renzy Marshall scored 13 points, brought down five rebounds, and added three steals and two assists, and Leah Hamilton recorded 11 points and nine rebounds.
Delaney Marshall scored eight points, Karsyn Koenig scored seven, and Kiley Talley hauled in a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Loggers (16-7) are now through to the next round of elimination games, two wins away from a state tournament berth. They’ll face Toledo on Tuesday in Castle Rock.
