John Louis Glover

John Louis Glover, 74, of Onalaska, Wash., went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019, following a brief illness. He was born in Waubun, Minn., June 30, 1945, to Leslie and Marion (Davis) Glover.

John graduated from Sumner High School and then went to work for Boeing, where he met Brenda Bates. He married Brenda and the two enjoyed 52 years of marriage. In 1973, the couple bought a dairy between Chehalis and Napavine, Wash. John later went to work for Northwest Hardwoods, from which he retired after 30 years.

He loved God, his family, his friends and animals. John raised two types of dogs, Arabian horses, sheep, cattle and rabbits. He took in stray dogs and cats and even homeless people. John enjoyed football, gardening, fishing, hunting and cooking.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents; step-father, Alfred LaDoux; and a sister, Gayle Matthews of Rabeline, La.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; sons, Michael of Olympia, Wash., and Kristopher of Centralia, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; one granddaughter; two step-grandsons; sisters, Joan Dale of Toledo, Wash., and Marjarie Clifton of Fargo, N.D.; brother-in-law, James (Catherine) Bates; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Buttelo, Elizabeth Miller and Shelley Bates; mother-in-law, Phoebe Bates; special niece and nephew, Nancy and Gordon Blood; and numerous other family members.

A celebration of John’s life will begin at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at Napavine Assembly of God Church, 414 Second St., Napavine. Refreshments will be served immediately following the service in the church’s fellowship hall. Per John’s wishes, interment will be private.
