Currently on an undefeated run into the end of their season, Chehalis’ 6th Grade Jr. Cats will get one more game for the glory this Sunday, at South Sound Stadium in Lacey in the Major Varsity TCYFL championship against the Yelm Tornados..

The Jr. Cats come into Sunday with a 7-0 record, having allowed just 18 points on defense all season, with four shutouts posted.

On offense, the team is led by quarterback Drew Hill, with an offensive line of Blake Jacobson, Keiona Ferrell, Mason McGreal, Quinten Robertson and Logan Hibben paving the way for backs Luke Hartley, Rylan McConnell and Willis Graham.

“Drew’s leadership on the field is second to none,” head coach Jared Jacobson said. “He’s done a great job of running our offense all season.”

On defense, coach Jacobson nodded to Zion Dennis on the defensive line and Easton Buck at linebacker for leading the way.

It’s the first time in five years the Jr. Cats have made a TCYL championship; the last team to do so is now in its junior season at W.F. West, with its own postseason on the horizon.

“We had our motto all season be, ‘One game at a time,’” Jacobson said. “We have one more to go on Sunday, and these boys will be ready.”
