Late PWV rally falls short against Elma

The Pe Ell-Willapa Valley softball team got within one after trailing against Elma by as much as six on Thursday, but the Titans’ rally fell short in an 8-7 loss.

Elma led 6-0 going into the bottom of the second, but PWV got on the board with a run in that frame.

Elma tacked on a run in the fourth and fifth, but the Titans scored five in those innings to make it an 8-6 game.

A sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh made it 8-7, but the potential tying run was stranded at second to end the game.

Sophia Milanowski hit another home run, while Tylar Keeton hit a triple and drove in a run as part of her two-hit day. Rylin Channell and Brookelynn King also added a hit and an RBI each.

Jillian Hodel pitched the final three and two-thirds, allowing just two hits and one run.

PWV (14-4, 8-0 P2BL) will host Raymond-South Bend in a potential league-deciding doubleheader on Monday.
