Latest weather forecast calls for a light-and-sound show around the Puget Sound region

Posted

This weekend could bring some flash-bang to Puget Sound. A wet weather system is coming with a chance of lightning Friday through Sunday.

The most likely time for lightning will come Saturday afternoon and evening across the central Puget Sound region. The National Weather Service (NWS) said there is a 30-35 percent chance of thunderstorm activity with a possible prelude coming Friday evening.

Scattered showers will fall from early Friday afternoon through most of Saturday and into Sunday morning, according to NWS meteorologist Dustin Guy.

The entire system could total a half inch of rain.

"The bulk of that would be during the day Saturday," Guy said. "For this time of year, it's pretty generous."

Highs will be in the low 60s this weekend. Normally, highs for late Spring should be in the 70s, Guy said. But temperatures will warm up again by Wednesday or Thursday.

Before then, we have some rain to get through.

"It's going to be a much more blase, gray weekend than we saw last weekend," Guy said.
