The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Scholarship Fund has announced the recipients of its class of 2026 scholarship awards, which includes Lauren Kelley, a Chehalis resident and recent W.F. West High School graduate.

Lauren is the daughter of Matthew Kelley, a member of Teamsters Local 117 employed by the Department of Corrections, and she will attend Washington State University in the fall. Teamsters Local 117 represents over 16,000 members locally in a variety of industries.

The Teamsters Scholarship Fund awards 600 $2,000 scholarships each year, and in three years, more than 1,600 scholarships have been awarded.

The money raised for the Teamsters Scholarship Fund comes from Teamsters local unions, Joint Councils, and member service providers, according to a news release from the Scholarship Fund.

Teamsters does not allow any employers to donate to the Scholarship Fund.

Teamsters scholarships are awarded to high school seniors planning to enroll in four-year college after graduation, community college transfer students, and students who plan to attend trade or vocational schools. Applicants must be the daughter, son or financial dependent of a Teamster.

Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.3 million working people in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
