Letter to the editor: Attempted seniors center policy on prayer, politics appalling

As I watch what’s happening in the world, in America and in Lewis County, I am becoming more and more concerned that we are entering an era of supreme suppression of our freedoms, our liberty and our pursuit of happiness. 

The first step in subjugating a nation is to remove its freedom, liberty and the right to freely assemble and speak freely about current events and issues we feel are important.

Fascism is a practice we are seeing exercised more and more today is a political philosophy that stands for a centralized government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition freedom, liberty, assembly and free speech.

I was appalled when I read the Senior Dynamics article written by Carol Brock, Lewis County Seniors president, who is also chair of the Lewis County Democratic Party, issuing an edict that it will no longer be acceptable for the Seniors gathering in their facility to pray and discuss politics. 

William Wallace was a Scotsmen who defeated an English army at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in September 1297. His most notable quote was: “They may take our lives but they will never take our freedom.” 

America is now on the brink of tyrannical rule as was Scotland back then. There is a covert war being waged on the Judeo-Christian civilization and what makes us the finest and most successful civilization that has ever existed.

This war is being waged by a cabal of Marxist, fascist, America-hating ideologues, cloaked as Democrats and led by elite oligarchs, supported by snobbish influencers, covered for by the legacy media, who is out and out biased, cheered on by the left wing entertainment industry, and is bound and determined to erase family bonds, roles of parents, God in our lives and all of our history, cultural accomplishments and our freedoms and liberty.

The Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights are in direct contradiction to what Ms. Brock is trying to do:



“We hold these Truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

The First Amendment provides several rights and protections: To express ideas through speech and the press and to assemble or gather with a group to protest or for other reasons.

It also protects the right to religious beliefs and practices. It prevents the government from creating or favoring a religion.

I was appalled by the gall (outrageous insolence, effrontery) and temerity (excessive boldness or rashness, foolhardiness or recklessness) of this woman. Just who does she think she is to issue an edict completely ignoring the tenants laid down in the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights? Don’t these documents apply in Lewis County?

How can she have the gumption to preach this trash to us?
