Letter to the editor: Commissioner Pollock tied innocent Republicans to white supremacists

Posted

As one of the unfortunate victims of Lewis County Commissioner Lindsey Pollock’s damaging speech, I feel it’s necessary to expose why she should have contacted Lewis County Republicans Chairman Brandon Svenson or I to verify the truth in private before embarrassing herself severely.

It seems she had a nefarious agenda to slander private citizens and to personally hurt the Republican Party. Was it misguided retaliation? Or is she influenced by known activists in our community who seek to destroy the integrity of our elected officials?

Here are emails obtained through a public records request. They reflect an exchange between Pollock and Chronicle Assistant Editor Isabel Vander Stoep. It is in reverse chronological order.

OK, thank you. If I quote that would it be safe to say like attendees of the McFilers show told Pollock that.... etc?

I am unaware as to whether the party leaders had actual contact with the white supremacists. The party leaders were making folks at McFilers uncomfortable with their presence and photography.

Thank you for making this statement and for sending this, Commissioner. Do you know whether the local Republican Party did sanction the protest or at all “make common” with the group? I had heard this happened but have not been able to confirm it yet.

Hi Isabel, I thought I’d reach out with a copy of the speech I delivered at the end of today’s County Commissioners’ Business meeting regarding incidents this weekend, in case you are interested.

According to public record and the timeline of this email chain, Commissioner Pollock wrote her speech, admittedly, without any concrete knowledge that Republican leaders were tied to the “white-supremacist” group in Centralia. Seems like an egregious misrepresentation of facts to anyone with a brain.

Stay tuned for more.
