Letter to the editor: Commissioners thankful for those who helped pull off Southwest Washington Fair

Posted

The 2023 Southwest Washington Fair has drawn to a close, and what a remarkable event it was. We’d like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this year’s fair a resounding success.

First and foremost, a massive thank you to our community for the overwhelming generosity shown at the livestock auction. Your contribution of $700,000 is more than a financial gesture — it’s an investment in our youth’s future. Your support signifies our collective belief in the potential of the next generation.

We’re also immensely grateful to our fair’s dedicated team leaders. Your commitment to the fair’s mission, ensuring it educates as well as entertains, is truly commendable. Your efforts have been integral to the fair’s many achievements this year.

Special acknowledgement must go to BJ Kuykendall and the entire county staff. The countless hours and hard work you’ve poured into this year’s fair have not gone unnoticed. Your dedication ensured that this event was not only memorable but one of the best in recent history.

The fair, with its captivating entertainment and delicious fair food, was a testament to the spirit of community. We’re thankful to all the volunteers, sponsors and diligent staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

Lastly, to everyone who came out and embraced the "Bee Friendly, Bee at the Fair" theme, thank you for participating and making the fair the vibrant and joyful event it was.

In gratitude,

Sean Swope, Scott Brummer and Lindsey R. Pollock
