Letter to the Editor: Congresswoman Is a Typical D.C. Politician

Posted

While I am not surprised by the recent local news about Washington Rep.  Marie Gluesenkamp Perez’s failure to pay property taxes on her Northeast Portland auto repair shop, it gives a glimpse into the careless mentality that seems rampant among Democrats.

Thanks to the disinformation industrial complex, today’s Democrats are so confident in their destructive beliefs, they no longer show concern for the truth or any facts that expose their hypocrisy. Democrats have absolute faith in the propaganda that supports them.

In Marie’s hastily assembled campaign in 2022, when people were still trying to pronounce her hyphenated last name, some clever talent was behind the scenes massaging her image as a champion for the working class. An astute consumer of any product knows that marketing at some point must yield to truth. That is why product evaluations by third-party reviewers on Youtube are so popular.

In politics, a politician should be examined from every angle after spending time in the field. Their position is very public. They have to show the world that they walk their talk. So if the elected official ran on supporting raising taxes so the government can fund programs and expensive international military policies, shouldn’t they be realistic and demonstrate due diligence paying their fair share?

Instead, with Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, we have this lame defensive excuse from her supporters that shows she is “one of us by being late with paying her property taxes.”

If a D.C. politician like Marie Gluesenkamp Perez can enter a race late (she didn’t even have a website until early 2022), and win by a very thin margin, a pattern of deception and carelessness is emerging. Politicians run on messaging, but those who do not live by their messaging are fake and dishonest.

Marie, like most Democrats, votes for increased spending while avoiding taxes, or abusing privileges (like using taxpayer funds to pay for postage on campaign mailers). An example of this is another famous Democrat, Nancy Pelosi, and her overuse of military aircraft for personal transportation or her insistence on reaping personal gain from insider trading.

Marie voted to fund wars and not student debt relief. A strange thing about today’s average liberal/progressive is that they fully support a violent foreign policy that rewards the military-industrial complex while placing the burden on the American taxpayer.

Not paying taxes, however, is a symptom of entitlement. So long as this attitude governs the progressives’ destructive policies toward traditional family, biological genders, national sovereignty, economic prosperity and individual rights, politicians such as Marie Gluesenkamp Perez give themselves a free pass on their own lies and miscalculations.

Ben Petersen, a spokesperson with the National Republican Campaign Committee, in a recent article, seized on those recent comments by Perez’s promotion of raising taxes to criticize the first-term member of Congress. “Not only is Gluesenkamp Perez a complete hypocrite,” Petersen said, “Her tax evasion shortchanged funding for public schools, police and firefighters.”  Marie is a typical D.C. politician and does not represent working-class Americans.
