Letter to the Editor: Crime Is Crime, Wherever it Is

Posted

I moved away from Centralia after 67 years living there. Some things have not changed much. The news from Seattle reports crime and shoplifting are both down by so much percent. Centralia and Chehalis can’t say that for sure.

West Centralia has an encampment behind Sunset Way that ha smore blue tarp than Sunbirds even sold last year. The shopping center for some of these people is the outlet mall and other stores in the area.

I moved to a small town on Hood Canal and there is a different mindset here. No real shoplifting as there is only one store.

There is some property crime and theft, but people here talk to each other and word gets out fast. Right now there is a car to watch for — a white four-door Toyota with a yellow butterfly on in the back window — may as well turn on four-way flashers. These people usually get caught.

No real easy answers, but there should be some solutions.
