Letter to the editor: Democrats come through on infrastructure

Posted

I am thankful for the much-needed road improvement on U.S. Highway 12.

In fact, this road has not seen this kind of repair and upgrade in years. This is thanks to President Biden and the Democrat majority during his first two years. This road work is part of the infrastructure spending bill that was passed in 2021 without a single Republican voting in favor.

For years, the Republican Party talked about infrastructure but never passed legislation to make it happen. During President Obama’s administration, six of his eight years were dictated by a Republican majority in Congress when funding was given with no specific earmarks. That money was spent, for example on repainting lines or more studies on how to replace the Interstate 5 bridge.

The money was used up and is hardly noticeable now. All we may get out of that splurge are East Coast-style toll bridges that will nickel and dime everyone to death. I will be voting for the Democratic Party, which actually walks the talk.
