Letter to the editor: Economic Alliance is a valuable asset for Lewis County

Posted

As a longtime Chehalis resident, business owner and City of Chehalis councilor, it is my pleasure to submit this letter of support for the Economic Alliance of Lewis County. I wanted to make it known my appreciation for the Alliance and the ways they serve our community.

Since Richard DeBolt has taken over the director’s position at the Economic Alliance, his passion for economic growth in Lewis County is apparent. His leadership has been a driving force when it comes to bringing small business and big business to our community. He has created a team that reflects his vision, engages with the community and aligns with the mission of the Alliance.

Approximately two years ago, they created the Business Development Center, which is a program to assist small businesses and new entrepreneurs experiencing the hurdles of opening and running a small business. They work one on one with you, walking you through the steps to become a legal business entity. Not only do they assist you in filling out the forms online, but they will help you with other business needs such as banking, insurance liability, storefront location, marketing, etc. It’s a one-stop shop for business.

This is a crucial program for Lewis County businesses. It increases economic development and opportunities in our area. The Economic Alliance’s goal is to anchor small businesses and bring in the large corporations and large businesses as well. Not only do they assist with the above business mentions, but they also put on community programs throughout the year. Some of these events are: Economic Forecast, Cyber Security in the Workplace, Women in Business Seminar, Manufacturers Workshop, Inclusive Career Fair, COVID Concerns, Hydrogen Symposium, and coming up, the Lewis County Infrastructure and Real Estate Seminar. With the discussion of hydrogen on the forefront in our area, it is much more than just hydrogen when it comes to the Economic Alliance.

I view the Economic Alliance as a valuable asset to us all in expanding growth and opportunity for the citizens of our community.
