Letter to the editor: Ekdahl-Johnson will be a passionate voice for common sense on Mossyrock School Board

Posted

I’m writing on behalf of Teresa Ekdahl-Johnson for Mossyrock School Board. I’ve known Mrs. Ekdahl-Johnson for over 25 years, first as a determined and dedicated student at Evergreen High School, then as a focused and resilient nursing student at Walla Walla Community College, and now as a supportive, working mom who wants what is best for her children and the students of her community.

I recently retired after 32 years teaching agriculture education, advising FFA members, directing ASB activities and coaching softball, and I have seen a number of directives and changes that have been placed on educators. In all those years, I have only seen a handful of school board members who took an active role in the schools and community they represent. There is nothing that an educator values more than a parent who is passionate about what is best for our students.

What makes Mrs. Ekdahl-Johnson unique is that she is taking an active role in her community where she and her husband have chosen to put down roots. This isn’t a short-term commitment she’s making. This is where her children will receive their education. Her values, moral code and commitment for what is best for Mossyrock will be an excellent fit on the school board. A lot can be learned from the simple question, “Would you allow Mrs. Ekdahl-Johnson to watch your kids?” She has, and she did.

If you seek a dedicated and passionate voice for common sense education for our students, then Teresa Ekdahl-Johnson is the obvious choice.
