Letter to the editor: Environmental movement suffers from open lies

Posted

The environmental movement is having a problem with something called hyper-normalcy.

After the fall of the Soviet empire, a Russian academic noted that during the last few decades of the empire, citizens knew their leaders were lying to them.

Likewise, leaders knew they were lying to their citizens but everyone was totally locked into the narrative and nobody knew how to change. This problem is called hyper-normalcy.

In like manner, the environmental movement has been pushing the same, old, outdated narratives for decades even though leaders know it’s all a lie.

Even more sad, movement members know they are being lied to.

Unfortunately, like in the Soviet Union, all are locked into the narrative and don’t know how to change.

During the most recent Republican presidential debate, candidates were asked their views on climate change. Seven of them mumbled the same old hyper-normalcy narratives we are all familiar with.

But one candidate responded with the truth saying that “climate change” is a hoax. That candidate’s name is Vivek Ramaswamy. Vivek knows that the “hoax” response is allowed to be whispered in hallways but not allowed in mainstream public conversation.

Hopefully, Vivek has started something. Hopefully the truth will start sneaking out and there will be more and more public discussion about solving environmental issues with real science instead of the same old worn out hyper-normalcy narratives.
