There is no historical precedent for someone to be a “dictator on day one” only. Everyone who has been a dictator on day one has been a dictator on day two, three … every day thereafter that they held power.
No country that has adopted a cult of personality like the MAGA/Trump cult has ever come out on the other side of the cult without serious violence.
Donald Trump is a marketing man. He does not have a relationship with facts and reality. He believes in developing a narrative about himself that gullible people will buy. His view of truth and fact is the equivalent of the view of truth and fact of people who wrote ads for cigarette companies. Trump’s idea of Make America Great Again is to bring back the Marlboro Man. Alas, that is not possible. He died of cancer.
Trump and his cronies are laying out a dystopian vision for America. Democrats offer to do things for people. MAGAs offer to do things to people. Like making women suffer who need an abortion in Texas and other MAGA states.
When they talk about the “Deep State,” they are referring to the professional bureaucracy that administers programs like Social Security and Medicare. If you do away with the Social Security and Medicare bureaucracy (who operate at a fraction of the administrative costs of private insurers), who will administer the programs? Well, that will not be a problem because they want to eliminate both Social Security and Medicare.
Trump says again he wants to also eliminate Obamacare but, like Social Security and Medicare, it has become quite popular. For Trump’s four years, it was “repeal and replace” Obamacare, but the GOP/MAGA party has never had a plan to replace the Affordable (Obama) Care Act. John McCain cast the deciding vote against one of their “plans”, because, he said, “it was not a plan” at all. “We’ll have a plan in two weeks,” they said. It has been 12 years. They still have no plan.
For four years of Trump, we heard, “next week will be infrastructure week.” It never happened. President Biden got it done. And a lot of other things
Governing requires having plans, intellect and discipline. Trump has none of those qualities. He has the attention span of a fruit fly.
He does have feral (conman) marketing instincts. Everything about Trump, like the Marlboro Man, is fake.
