Letter to the editor: I am glad Pride Month is over

Posted

Thankfully the month of June is finally over and hopefully along with it, the Lewis County Dignity Guild and The Chronicle LGBTQ+ soap opera. There’s an old adage that “The squeaky wheel gets the grease.”

Chronicle Photo Editor Jared Wenzelburger was able to apply one more coat of grease for the Dignity Guild on the last day of June 2023, when visitors from across Western Washington came to the conservative, hinterland, “sundown town” of Chehalis to fix the Friendship Fence, complete with participation of Chehalis city officials.

On June 26, Chronicle Assistant Editor Isabel Vander Stoep penned another 691-word LGBTQ+ article about four alleged vandalism attacks on Dignity Guild supporters in Lewis County.

According to Vander Stoep’s article, one incident occurred in Morton, and the other three in Chehalis, with Morton being the only site that has video footage of the incident.

Included in Vander Stoep’s article was this statement: “According to the guild’s President Kyle Wheeler, the timeline of the four locations are sequential, the first was around 1 a.m., the second around 1:30 a.m., the third at about 1:45 a.m., and the shop window in Morton was broken at approximately 2:28 a.m.”

If the Morton attack was the only site that had video footage of the vandalism incident, how would Mr. Wheeler know the timeline when each of the three other Chehalis incidents occurred?

Unless Mr. Wheeler has additional video footage, or an eyewitness to each Chehalis incident, it seems rather odd that he would know even the approximate times of these alleged attacks.

Hate crime hoaxes in this day and age are quite common (Fakehatecrimes.org). In 2019, gay actor Jussie Smollett staged a hate crime hoax in Chicago, a hoax that garnered national attention from the U.S. media, elected officials and celebrities.

Lewis County’s 2023 version of these LBGTQ+ spectacles are “Republican” Lewis County Commissioner Lindsey Pollock, Chehalis Mayor Tony Ketchum, Immanuel Lutheran Church and Chronicle columnist Julie McDonald (a noted COVID-19 mask expert).

As I stated in a previous letter to the editor, there was a period (1990s) in our country, when the LBGTQ+ , their allies just wanted the government and the Christian right to stay out of their bedrooms.

They wanted the Christian right to stop pushing their religious beliefs on them. It’s 2023, and we now get the GayStapo bedroom and their beliefs shoved down our throats for the whole month of June.

The GayStapo and their allies have morphed into the Christian right, pushing their beliefs on everyone. They no longer want just tolerance of the LBGTQ+. They now want us to completely accept their sexual lifestyle and their public display of it.

There’s this thing called the internet. People see the “Pride” spectacles, with full-on nudity, in Seattle, New York, Toronto, etc., with young children in attendance. A trans female posed topless on the White House lawn at a recent pride event. Tolerance and acceptance of this can only go so far.

Kyle Wheeler’s Dignity Guild is the squeaky wheel and Chad Taylor’s Chronicle is the grease.
