I would like to commend columnist Don Brunell for his well-written piece "Honoring flag should remain integral in America" posted June 26, 2024.
I would also like to add my voice to what was published.
I am the daughter of a U.S. Marine, wife of an Eagle Scout, and former Girl Scout of many years. I know and honor the United States Flag Code.
Some people are hesitant to raise Old Glory for fear it will appear to align them with an extreme brand of people. In recent years, this group has appropriated our flag and has used it as a symbol for their idea of one true form of patriotism. I fear the flag may lose its true meaning through the actions of this misguided minority.
I will almost certainly be voting Democrat up and down my November ballot and I will continue to fly the Stars and Stripes wherever and whenever appropriate.
