I had to respond to the July 14 letter from Kathleen Bieker of Centralia raging against LGBTQ-affirming children’s books at Centralia Timberland Library.
They’re there to tell all of our youth that they belong in this world regardless of the ignorant feelings of people who belittle being gay, transgender or nonbinary as a “lifestyle,” “agenda” or “aberrant behavior.”
Of course, young minds are easily influenced and shaped and that’s why we need to be careful how we tell our own kids to feel about people who are different from them.
If you’re not, then the only person “tainting” children’s minds is you.
