Letter to the Editor: Incumbent Backs Brummer for County Commissioner

Posted

As the current Lewis  County commissioner for district 3, I am often asked who would be the best person to fill my seat since I am not running. I have not wavered in my answer that I intend to vote for Scott Brummer.

Scott is a longtime Lewis County resident and has always shown me that the best interests of the citizens is his foremost concern. The many challenges we will be facing in the next four years and well into the future will best be met by someone who accepts them and is ready and willing to take those challenges head on.

Scott recognizes the essence of wise, well-planned growth that balances our rural way of life with housing and job opportunities. He is also well aware of the importance of law enforcement and public safety. His knowledge of and relationship with state agencies will be an asset to the county in his role as commissioner when he and our citizens are navigating the labyrinth of state government.

I first met Scott following the 2006 Cowlitz River flood. The county had several subsequent meetings in my role as county commissioner and his as a representative of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

I always found that, even while working for WDFW, Scott was aware of the impact decisions made by the department had on the citizens of Lewis County and worked to make sure those impacts were kept at a minimum.

As I have gotten to know Scott better during his campaign for commissioner, I have come to the firm belief that he is the best candidate to fill the position of Lewis County commissioner. I believe he will be the leader Lewis County needs in the challenging post-COVID-19 world in which we live.

Please join me in voting for Scott Brummer, Lewis County commissioner, district 3.
