Joe Kent speaks reverently about then president Donald Trump meeting the plane at Dover Air Base carrying the body of Kent's wife who was tragically killed in Syria. I'm sure it was a time of great sorrow and vulnerability for him.
Trump is a con man. Confidence men are experts at spotting the vulnerabilities of others. Their approach is always kind and seemingly helpful. They gain your confidence. They routinely prey on those who are vulnerable.
Trump's true colors regarding the military and those who serve are well known to those who have been close to him. Four-star Marine General John Kelly, Trump's second chief of staff, called Trump "the most flawed person" he's ever known. When Trump refused to order flags flown at half-staff in honor of John McCain, Kelly told him if he did not lower the flags, the American people would "piss on his grave." Because McCain had been captured, Trump called McCain a "loser." Kelly may have also been the original source of the story of Trump in France in 2018 refusing to go to a ceremony to honor American soldiers killed at Belleau Wood, France in World War I, calling them "suckers" and "losers."
Kelly said if Trump was a "real man" he would have gone to the Capitol on Jan. 6 to stop the rioters. By his association with the Proud Boys, who were part of the mob that attacked the Capitol and other radical extremist groups, it is clear Joe Kent does not share General Kelly's view of Trump or Jan. 6.
Kent poses as an expert on foreign affairs because he deployed overseas, but he displays a notable lack of historical knowledge. Anyone with a good grasp of history knows that what is happening in Ukraine is historic. President Biden and NATO are on the right side of history. Kent, who opposes aid to Ukraine and like Trump and the rest of the MAGA right wing questions the value of NATO, is foolishly on the wrong side of history.
In 2005, 2011 and 2013 bills were introduced in Congress to resolve the immigration issue. The 2013 bill passed the Senate 68-32. All three were torpedoed by the extremist House Republicans Kent proposes to join. From the disastrous COVID response to climate change to our nation being awash with firearms, the radical MAGA party has proven itself utterly incompetent and unwilling to provide for the safety of the public.
It is Republican tax policies radically favoring the ultra wealthy that are at the root of our economic and opportunity inequality, not immigration. A comparison of the CEO to employee income ratio of the 1950s to that same ratio today clearly makes that point.
Kent has consistently supported Trump's claims that election fraud carried Joe Biden to victory in 2020. Every time (62) Trump's lawyers have been required to produce evidence of election fraud in court, under oath, often in front of Trump appointed judges, they have come up empty. Kent's claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election are simply BS.
Kent has the facade of a patriot, but anyone who repeats Trump's lies about the 2020 election is not a patriot. Kent, like Trump, is a liar.
