Letter to the Editor: Kudos to Commissioner Lindsey Pollock

Posted

I applaud Lewis County Commissioner Lindsey Pollock’s stance that intimidation has no place in America. The vote by the Lewis County Republican Party to censure her is irrelevant. Remember, the leader of the Lewis County Republican Party and mayor of Winlock is no leader at all. He holds none of the traits or characteristics of a leader. Read the U.S. Army’s field manual on leadership to find those traits and characteristics. The U.S. Marine Corps has a long list of leadership traits that is also extremely useful.

Lindsey Pollock is correct. The current Republican Party as a whole is making a larger leap to fascist authoritarianism. The Wyoming Republican Party also censured Liz Cheney for daring to hold a president accountable. Liz Cheney is a true Republican. The Utah Republican Party tried to censure Sen. Mitt Romney, another true Republican. True Republicans like Ronald Reagan and George Bush would not get elected. Lindsey Graham was booed in his own hometown for showing loyalty. My oath of loyalty is to the Constitution and country.

Remember the “Jews will not replace us” march occurred at a Unite the Right rally. Yes, just as many problems on the left. I do not support defunding the police and I believe I made that point clear to Tracy Murphy during his election campaign. Do you all remember when the mayor of Winlock claimed a liberal from Olympia was running Tracy Murphy’s campaign?

That was a lie put forth by the mayor of Winlock. Do you remember the throwing/not throwing incident at a meet the candidate night? Not the performance of a leader holding any leader traits or characteristics.

It is fine if the Republican Party wants to become a White Christian Nationalist Party as espoused by Marjorie Taylor Greene. But if you espouse to be a Christian, at least try to lead a Christian life. Read and follow the words of Jesus Christ. If you do not want to support the LBGTQ community, then don’t. Change the channel.

A writer claimed this group is forcing it down their throats. No, it is all about acceptance. I served in the military with numerous Americans different than me, and I have more respect for them for simply serving. At least they raised their hands and were not sitting on them when their country called.

I do not agree with everything coming out of Olympia, but if the Lewis County Republican Party wants blind loyalty, find another venue.
