Letter to the Editor: Mossyrock Superintendent Introduces Himself to Community

Posted

I appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself to the Mossyrock community.

I am Dr. Mark Chandler and I am wrapping up my first week as your school superintendent. My wife and I relocated here to Mossyrock from Georgia in June.

I want to express my gratitude for the warm welcome I have enjoyed from the staff, community and school board members. The friendly, kind and helpful experiences I have had with those I have encountered so far has been a refreshing experience.

I am a career educator with experience in the field as a teacher, coach, athletic director, principal and superintendent. I have had the pleasure of serving in both suburban and rural schools in Georgia and New Mexico. I have enjoyed working with both individuals and organizations to foster growth and development through strong positive relationships. I believe teamwork centered on a common goal allows for productive outcomes for students and the community.

My wife and I have children (including two grandchildren) living in Oregon, Washington and North Carolina. I enjoy nature, outdoor activities, history, sports, learning about different cultures and travel. I am from the South so when you hear some guy speak with a drawl you will not have to ask, “You’re not from around here are you?” However, I am happy to say I am now.

I look forward to serving you in the days ahead and becoming part of our community here in Mossyrock. I look forward to meeting more community members, so, as we say back home, “Y’all come by sometime, it will be good to see you.”
