Letter to the Editor: Thank You, Jaime Herrera Beutler, for Excellent Representation

Posted

I was so impressed by the article about Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler’s final comments on the U.S. House floor featured in Saturday’s edition of The Chronicle.

I’m also disappointed that we will no longer have a representative as loyal and caring for the constituents in her area.

After 58 years of voting, 37 years of that was in Eastern Washington, she was the first representative that I have experienced in a very long time who actually worked to better and improve the area she represented in Congress.

She was firm in her beliefs, and was unfortunately cut down when she stepped up to the wrongdoings in the previous administration.

In her campaigns, she was never one to bash the opposition, rather making it clear what she believed in and planned to do for the county and actually following through with it.

Candidates running for offices to represent should take lessons from her. Of all the candidates in this last election, only one voiced anything positive about themselves, and that was Gluesenkamp Perez.

Instead, their whole campaigns were based on bashing their opposition. It made it difficult to even vote, not having a clue what they were for or what good they intended to do, if anything.

Thank you, Jaime, for your excellent representation.

I pray your replacement will follow in your footsteps.
