Letter to the editor: Thank you to Lewis County PUD for keeping the lights on

Posted

I am thankful for all the workers at the Lewis County Public Utility District.

Recently, we had a vehicle take out a power pole on Winston Creek Road in the late evening or early morning. Though it did not result in an immediate power outage, the pole did have to be replaced that morning.

Affected residents received a call to explain the situation and let us know what time our power would be out. The whole job took just a few hours and everyone was back in business.

This situation got me thinking about all the times that we have had storms of wind, snow and heavy rain and how many times the power has gone out. Our weather emergencies and current state of our aboveground electricity infrastructure all but guarantees that these workers will be required to do their jobs in the worst of situations.

But they always do and our power is usually restored in a matter of hours. I just really want everyone at the PUD to know how much we appreciate all of them pulling together and especially those workers who have to endure the extremes in heat, cold, wind and rain to keep our lights on.
