A Republican Party activist and constant critic of Lewis County Commissioner Dr. Lindsey Pollock has gone a step too far in claiming that Commissioner Sean Swope prevented the county public health officer and Commissioner Pollock from canceling the 2021 SWW Fair.
That claim is entirely false. I know because I worked in the fair manager’s office.
The real issue requiring the special meeting was to make a decision on whether to require masks or use signage to address the COVID epidemic. There was no plan or even consideration to cancel the Fair.
All commissioners were in unanimous agreement with the decision.
Since Ms. Rohr, a letter writer, was not present when the decision was made to call the special meeting, the question is: who made up this false claim?
