Letter to the editor: To the left, only traditional American values should be banned

I understand that prayer has been banned in the Lewis County senior centers. You may not talk about politics either, according to an article written by Carol Brock. I’m offended by that. I hear that a few individuals complained about having to listen to people praying. Because of those few complaints, the practice was banned, and now hundreds of people are offended — perhaps thousands.

I am personally offended by foul language. Very offended. Will the board now ban cursing because I’m offended? No. Why? Because it is not politically correct to ban the expression of the “F word” or taking the Lord’s name in vain, but it is politically correct to ban anything that is related to Christianity or American tradition.

We can’t please everyone. I am almost 65 years old, and I’ve heard people complain about everything under the sun. But to those on the left, only Christian or traditional American values are worthy to be banned.

This is unacceptable, and the decision should be reversed immediately. My guess is that if the people of this county were to be asked, they would want free speech to be the winner — not the banning of prayer and political discussions, both of which are as common and as American as mom and apple pie.
