Letter to the editor: Trump didn’t cause mob violence of Jan. 6

Posted

Once again, letter writer Marty Ansley has trotted out the old, tired anti-Trump rhetoric. Jan. 6! Trump is no more responsible for the Jan. 6 riots than Trump or Vice President Harris are responsible for the attempted assassination of President Trump. Individuals acting on their own in response to real or imagined attacks did things that were illegal and should have been prosecuted. With Jan. 6, it was mob violence, instigated by unknown parties, but once there were enough people wanting it the mob took over. L.A. riots are a good example of mob mentality. Of course, Marty also drags out President Trump’s felony conviction. That conviction was brought about by a Democrat district attorney who ran and was elected on the sole platform of “I’ll get Trump.” He took a law that didn’t have anything to do with the charges, stretched beyond breaking, and convinced 12 people in a liberal city to convict him. Most legal scholars agree that once the case leaves the New York legal system, the conviction will be overturned.

The questions concerning the legality of the 2020 election centered on liberal states. Those states are not interested in investigating election fraud when they got the outcome they wanted. So, being liberal they tried to use the legal system to stop President Trump. But all of those states tried to bring charges against him for “interfering” with the election, but those failed. They failed because his challenges were allowed by law. Further, there was considerable video evidence of election system abnormalities. As I recall, there was a video of someone in Philadelphia going house to house offering $200 for signed blank ballots. And there was the video of the ballot counters waiting until the election monitors left to pull crates full of ballots out from under tables to be counted after hours. But a weaponized Department of Justice failed to find any abnormalities.

Since Marty is such a huge fan of President Biden and Vice President Harris, let’s take a look. Vice President Biden sold his influence to help his son in his dealings with the Chinese and the Russians. During the 2020 campaign, President Trump was roasted in the media for supposed collusion with the Russians, which turned out to be false. Somehow, nobody remembers either of those facts. Harris, as senator from California, sponsored 167 bills in the Senate. None of them became law. Every one was read twice then referred to the committee. According to an article in USA Today, she overstated her accomplishments as district attorney to get elected as attorney general for California. As vice president she has accomplished very little. The one job given to her was “Border Czar,” a job she ignored until the press finally hounded her into visiting the Southern border. She didn’t. She actually stopped in El Paso to tour a processing center and port of entry. Finally, she has never held a job in the private sector. She has only been a public employee. Is this who we want to lead this nation?
