Letter to the editor: Vote Chris Brewer for Centralia City Council

Posted

Dear neighbors of the City of Centralia,

You don’t know me, but I am your neighbor. I serve as an officer of the court and I work locally in the health care field. Centralia has been my home for nearly a decade and I love this community.

With Nov. 7 quickly coming around, I wanted to share my thoughts about candidate Chris Brewer and why he is the best candidate for the job. I couldn’t be more excited to have him run for Centralia City Council.

I know Chris as a civically engaged neighbor, public servant and as a friend of mutual friends. Getting to know him a little better, I learned that he is a combat veteran, a volunteer, an overall good citizen and now a remarkable candidate for Centralia City Council, position 1 at-large. He also happens to be a great human being.

I appreciate how engaged Chris has consistently been on issues affecting the city; not just talk, as he has attended Centralia City Council meetings since he announced his candidacy. This neighbor of ours shows up for Centralia. He has presented himself at the candidates forums like someone who I would trust representing my interests in Centralia City Council.

I care about the issues like our scarce housing inventory and the unhoused persons in our community, and Chris cares about these issues and spoke to them in the candidates’ forums. He supports all types of housing being developed and maintained in our city. Affordable housing is crucial for attracting and keeping young families in a thriving community.

I believe that it takes collaboration and bridge-building to reach solutions. I’m over the partisanship and nonsense that has polarized our community. Chris is skilled at maintaining good friendships and relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds, professions and walks of life because he believes that relationships matter when it comes to civic governance. I have all the confidence he will represent us well.

Chris Brewer is vested in this community and, if his cycling is any indication, a tenacious gentleman. I like this for my city, and I will support Chris Brewer for Centralia City Council, Position 1 At-Large. Read about him in your voters’ pamphlet and get out and vote.
