Letter to the Editor: Why Is Commissioner Speaking Out of Both Sides of Her Mouth?

Posted

Lewis County Commissioner Lindsey Pollock seems like an intelligent woman. So why is she talking out of both sides of her mouth?

She wants people to decide for themselves about wearing masks now, yet is aware Lewis County rates are the COVID-19 rates are the fourth highest in the state. Why? Because so many aren’t practicing the things we need to do to mitigate the spread like other counties.

In her own business she even stated, “she would continue those practices even if the mask mandate were revoked, until rates of COVID-19 transmission had decreased drastically.”

Yet at the same time she’s willing to let it spread in her county, putting our health care workers under more stress with the possibility of increasing deaths?

I’m confused.

We know the endemic is near. Now would be a good time to practice patience for the benefit of all. Let’s wait a little longer for a better outcome. It seems the question should be to her constituents, “how can we help end the spread?”
