Letter to the editor: ‘You can fool some of the people all of the time’

Posted

If Donald Trump ever had the absolute immunity from prosecution that he believes the president should have, and the absolute political authority of a Viktor Orban or a Vladimir Putin, which he clearly wants to have, what would stop him from taking bribes or cheating on his taxes?

Does anyone really believe that Trump would reject these enticements?

Furthermore, what fate would befall anyone who tried to stop him? Prosecution? Imprisonment?  Execution? Lately, he even has threatened Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley.

Those tempted to support Trump should ponder the words of the greatest Republican president, Abraham Lincoln:  “You can fool some of the people all of the time.”
