A Level 3 sex offender has registered to live in the 300 block of Meier Road in Winlock, according to a news release from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Mackenzie J. Marasco, 28, is not wanted by law enforcement at this time, but his previous conviction requires registration with the sheriff’s office.

The Level 3 classification indicates the offender is a high risk to reoffend.

“This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public,” the sheriff’s office stated.

Marasco is listed at 5-foot-8, 160 pounds, and described as a white male, bald, with blue eyes.

According to the release, Marasco was convicted by a court-martial in 2018 for two counts of sexual assault and single counts of burglary, communicating a threat and aggravated assault after he broke into the barracks of a female Marine and raped her.

Marasco did not know the victim, the sheriff’s office stated.

According to the release, Marasco “threatened to kill the victim if she did not turn out the lights.”

After raping the victim, Marasco assaulted her by “encircling her neck with his arm in a ‘choke hold’ and applying pressure enough to strangle her,” the sheriff’s office stated.

According to the release, Marasco left the barracks after threatening to kill the victim if she told anyone about the encounter. The victim locked the door behind him.

When Marasco attempted to reenter the barracks, the victim captured a photo of him, which led to his identification, according to the release.

“The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of a sex offense that requires registration with the sheriff’s office,” the release stated. “Further, their previous history places them in a classification level that reflects the potential to reoffend.

“The individual served the sentence imposed by the court and has properly notified the sheriff’s office of their current address. The law does not require this offender to do anything other than register.”
