The Lewis County Auditor’s Office will send out 576 ballots to registered voters this week who are either in the military or overseas.
The ballots must be signed and postmarked by election day and must be received by the auditor’s office a day before election certification. Voters who fax or email their ballots must submit them by 8 p.m. on election day.
The ballots will be mailed on Friday Sept. 22, which is 45 days before the election, as required by law. The extended time frame allows voters overseas to research candidates and issues and return ballots promptly.
