Lewis County commissioners adopt emergency resolution to install new storage system for security cameras

Lewis County will spend $33,000 on “immediate work” to install a new system to retain security camera footage at county buildings.

The Lewis County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted an emergency resolution to fund the project on Wednesday. The emergency nature of the repairs allowed the commissioners to forgo the traditional bidding requirements and adopt the resolution during their director’s update.

After the resolution was adopted, Commissioner Lindsey Pollock said the current system “poses a significant financial concern to the county as well.”

“So we need to move on this as quickly as possible,” Pollock said.

The resolution says the current storage system “has been determined to not have adequate storage to maintain a proper length of storage for retention.”

An investigation determined the current system is “outdated.” The resolution states the current system creates potential security risks and safety issues.

The commissioners held an executive session during the county manager update on Sept. 11 to discuss the security system, and the board packet cites a state code that allows entities to meet in executive session to discuss litigation or potential litigation.
