The Lewis County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, Feb. 11, passed three resolutions awarding contracts for the repair of Bunker Creek Road during its weekly business meeting at the Lewis County Courthouse.
More specifically, the resolutions empower the county engineer to sign an acceptable contract with the awarded companies for the price given during the bidding process.
The county published their request for bids for all three contracts on Dec. 18, 2024. After a waiting period for receiving bids, the board passed resolutions awarding contracts for purchasing rock, base stabilization and to provide hot mixed asphalt.
The board selected Sterling Breen Crushing, Inc., located in Centralia, for the rock purchase, West Coast Soil Solutions in Battle Ground for the “base stabilization” contract and Lakeside Industries, Inc., in Centralia for the asphalt contract.
The three companies submitted the lowest bids for their respective contracts.
Sterling Breen Crushing, Inc submitted a bid of $32,340, including tax, for the rock itself. The county included in the resolution awarding the contract an allocated sum of $24,170.62 for hauling the rock, bringing the total cost to $56,510.62.
West Coast Soil Solutions in Battle Ground, the only listed bidder for this contract, submitted a bid of $79,620.20, including tax, and Lakeside Industries, Inc. in Centralia submitted a bid of $309,936.00.
The project is slated to begin work no later than the end of May, but no official date has been set.
