Lewis County eases permitting requirements for campgrounds and RV parks

The Lewis County Board of Commissioners has unanimously voted to approve a streamlined permitting process for RV parks and campgrounds

The new rules increase how long an RV park owner can allow people to stay at a campground from 180 to 210 days, allow cabins and yurts, and permit supporting services at campgrounds, such as a store or laundromat.

Developers will also only need a special use permit and a State Environmental Policy Act review before construction. A binding site plan is no longer needed.

“This change will significantly reduce the permitting time for RV park developers and for staff reviewing the permits,” Lewis County Planner Preston Pinkston stated in a news release.
