Rural Lewis County Indivisibles is once again coming to town with a sign-waving protest event to be held near the Centralia Safeway.
The group announced last week that it would hold a peaceful sign-waving event at the intersection of Harrison and Belmont avenues, sandwiched between the local Safeway and the nearby Interstate 5 on- and off-ramps. The event is scheduled for 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10.
According to a news release, the event is meant to highlight “fascist behavior” in the U.S. government. After making signs during another locally organized event on Saturday, Jan. 3, the group will be providing fresh signs to all attendees. Those looking to attend are asked to speak with organizers about signs and instructions when arriving at the event.
Members of Lewis County Indivisible say the signs will show words that describe characteristics of a fascist regime.
“We hope folks will do their own comparison between the actions of this administration and dictators around the world, past and present,” reads the news release from Rural Lewis County Indivisible. “If just one of our neighbors sees us out there and decides to research this issue, our event will be a success.”
